HEAD
1. Heart- I decided to practice sewing and try to improve my skills as well as seeing if I would be interested in sewing in the future.
2. Ring- This definitely needs some work and some practice, but I wanted to try drawing metals. I think I would like to continue working with this in the future because I really want to improve my drawing skills to be able to accurately portray metals.
3. Bear- I wanted to learn a new skill, so I decided to crochet a little teddy bear. I did not create the pattern, instead I followed one, but now that I have a better understanding of how crocheting in this way work, I think I will take some of the ideas that I learned and apply them to my art.
4. Painting- I was interested in exploring how to paint skin. This is a tricky thing to do and I look forward to improving my skills here.
5. Mirror- I had so much leftover mirror after my home sculpture that I decided to use it by painting it. Using paint on the glass was a bit harder than I thought it would be because I wanted the paint to be more translucent, so it wasn't quite thick enough to stick to the mirror well. If I can figure out a way to have translucent paint stick where I want on the glass, I can see my self trying this out again. Maybe I can use glue??
HEART
6. Tissue- I started painting a tissue when I was bored one day, and as I was doing that, I started wondering if the paint would act in a paper mache kind of way and allow the tissue to stand upright once it dried. I left the tissue draped over a (covered) bowl overnight, and in the morning the tissue was able to stand up on its own. I am excited about the possibilities that this presents.
7. Nails- This was something I have been interested in doing for a while, but I was finally about to get the wood to do it! This was a pretty relaxing piece and I enjoyed making it. I also like the repetition. I think that I am going to play with repetition some more in the future.
8. People- I used to love cutting out profiles, so I thought that I would work on this some more. They are not the best, but I used to be better at making them. I think that I just need to practice cutting them out freehand some more.
9. Flowers- I get these flowers whenever I go to the Greek Easter Service with my cousins and my Aunt and Uncle, and I wanted to do something now that they were dried. I gathered a few other things that I thought would fit nicely with the flowers and I purposely chose things that reminded me of Easter with my family. I then arranged the items on a piece of wood.
